The Photometric Database
Design of the database
The database is based on the relational system called /rdb and consists
of several parts:
- An Index which informs in which systems each star has been observed,
- Separate data files for each photometric system (original mesurements),
- Catalogues of mean values, when relevant,
- Bibliographic reference files,
- General information, like cross-identifications,
coordinates, and spectral
types.
Database content
The numbers of observed stars and published references in each photometric system
is highly variable. It can be displayed by order of
General data file structure
The structure of all photometric data files is similar:
- code number
- data
- number of measurements
- data source
Stellar identifications
The identification system is based on the Lausanne
code numbering system (LID).
However, in the forms, the query may be written by using conventional catalogue
designations and acronyms that are translated automatically
to the corresponding code number.
Data sources
The references of the data sources are kept and can be obtained for all data
