Abstract
From spectroscopic and narrow-band photoelectric observations we have derived
the atmospheric parameters log g and theta for 19 blue horizontal-branch
stars in the globular cluster NGC 6397. These data have been combined with
measurements of the cluster reddening and distance modulus to yield a mean
mass = 0.55 +- 0.15 solar masses and a mean luminosity of
= 1.64 +- 0.1. The blue horizontal-branch stars appear to occupy
a wedge-shaped domain in the theoretical HR diagram.
